How to Apply for an ACA Book Scholarship

The African Community Association (ACA)  awards several book scholarships each year, in recognition of Academic Excellence. Scholarships are awarded during the ACA Annual Scholarship Dinner, typically held in September.  Please click here for current scholarship application and current year scholarship awards gala schedule.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be African nationals or born to African national parent(s)
  • Be full-time students pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree
  • Attend a northeast Ohio college or university OR be a northeast Ohio resident if studying elsewhere
  • Must not be an immediate family member of ACA leadership or have received an ACA scholarship in the past 12 months

Application Requirements

1. Academic Standing

  • Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study or one semester of graduate work
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale
  • Must be registered for the semester in which the award is granted
  • Submit most recent academic transcript

2. Application Form

  • Download and complete the official ACA Scholarship Application Form
  • Include relevant supporting documents (e.g., transcript, résumé of extracurricular activities)

3. Optional Financial Need Consideration

  • Applicants facing financial hardship may submit pay stubs or work schedules to demonstrate self-support or financial need

Application Deadline: September 5 (each year).

All applicants will be notified of their application status during the second week of September. Selected recipients will be invited as special guests to the award ceremony.
